Sunday 11th August – Classics over Sands

An event that we have enjoyed in previous years – A lovely old classic car show in a fabulous setting on the showground at Grange over Sands overlooking Morecambe Bay.

As we will be travelling from different directions, the plan is to have an early rendezvous in the car park at Devil’s Bridge at Kirby Lonsdale. We can get a cup of tea or coffee (and a bacon sandwich if you are hungry) at the tea van at the Devil’s Bridge, and we can then drive in convoy from there to the showground. If we all arrive together, then the organisers and marshals will let us park together in the show. It is always a lovely show with usually a jazz band, the local girl guides serving tea and buns, and lots of stalls and other attractions as well as the old cars. After the show we can stop on the way back at the Fisherman Restaurant, which is a very nice fish and chip restaurant in Settle. (There are alternative menu choices to the fish and chips)

*PLEASE NOTE: C.O.S. members and friends who would like to go will need to enter their cars and pay the entry fee on the website:www.classicsoversands.org (Entry fee £7 per car with up to 2 passengers).

For this year, only cars that are more than 20 years old can be entered online. If you have a specific vehicle of interest that is younger than 20 years old and would like the organisers to consider entry, please contactCLASSICSOVERSANDS.org@gmail.com

The Crooklands Hotel is well known to some of our members, and was a Cumbria Tourism Awards 2023 Small Hotel of the Year Finalist.

There is excellent parking for the old cars, and the hotel regularly hosts a number of classic car club events.

The price and booking arrangements have already been already circulated, but if any members would like me to send the information again, or would like any more information about any of our other events, then please let me know.
